Oil paintings of the Colorado landscape and its buffalo

My work is rooted in a fusion of realism and imagination. I begin outdoors with plein air studies, build texture and depth in layers, and finish each painting with fine oil detail — always reaching for brilliant colour and a sense of place. The buffalo I paint are the heart of that practice: majestic, grounded creatures I see grazing on the plains near my studio, and a subject I return to again and again.

Linda Sole Faul is an oil painter based in Boulder, Colorado, where her studio sits high in the foothills. She studied painting and jewellery design at the University of Colorado Boulder and has spent more than twenty-five years painting, teaching and exhibiting. She draws on the Colorado mountains and plains, the Southwest, and the coastlines of California and Florida. Her signature buffalo paintings have become collector favourites and hang in private collections across the United States. Alongside her studio practice, Linda teaches plein air and studio painting workshops for children and adults.
